Ni aku nak tanya kepada para pegurus database, bukan pembangun ek.. apa tugas2 korang

sama tak ngan aku list nie atau maybe banyak benda lagi yang perlu aku buat.

Aku keje sekarang kene buat sendiri... kene blaja sendiri

lagipun baru lagi, so kongsilah pengalaman dan pengetahuan korang ngan aku

kerja2 yang biasa aku buat:

1. back-up database (internal dan tape)

2. back-up system = logical-log & physical (tape)

3. update statistic

4. configure client/server connection

5. Manage tsorage spaces

tu jer... aku tau byk benda lagi

aku jaga informix baru 4 bulan

so mintak senior2 sini dapat kongsi sama-sama task yang perlu dibuat uintuk jamin database aku ni boleh pakai lama lagi

One more thing.. please make sure ape yang kor back up to "RESTORE"-ABLE.

So far kor dah cover dah aper yang normal DBA do. Aku dah jadi enterprise DBA dah dekat 7 tahun ++ dah mostly with SQL and Oracle... So far Alhamdulillah. but since my background also involve system programming, aku banyak write procedures on the back end to support the Developer team so depa tak der la crash DB server aku from BAD queries.. And Mainly most of my task is to tune up the performance.. Design and normalize database for optimum performance.. ni pun belajar from buku jer but so far performamce system kat office aku no boleh la nak jadi contoh buku heheee.

Anyway,.. keep up the informix.. That Database engine is good. Aku pernah main tapi DBA aku tak kasi full access tapi aku curi curi gak masuk.. yer la time dier tak der kena la aku trouble shoot betul tak.

Administering the Database Server

Monitor an Informix database server.

Configure client/server connections.

Locate information on the configuration parameters.

Use the SMI tables of the sysmaster database to monitor the database server.

Interpret logical-log records and message-log messages.

Understand database server disk structures and storage.

See a list of the files that the database server uses.

Work with event alarms.

Use the ON–Bar or ontape utility.

Back up and restore storage spaces and logical logs.

Use the archecker utility to verify backed-up data.

Perform an external backup and restore.

Set up HDR with external backup and restore.

Use ISA to administer and monitor the database server. 

Connect your database server to storage devices for ON–Bar backup and restore operations.

Issue ISM commands.

Manage backup media and storage devices.

Track the location of all backup data.

Move backup data through a managed life cycle.

Provide disaster recovery for a database server instance.

Perform an imported restore to a database server on another computer.

Use the ipload, onpladm, and onpload utilities to load or unload large quantities of data to or from an Informix database.

Use the High-Performance Loader (HPL) GUI.

Move data to a different computer or configuration.

Alter the schema of a table.

Detect unusual user actions and unwanted activities and identify the perpetrators.

Detect unauthorized access attempts.

Assess potential security compromises.

Use the secure-auditing utilities (onaudit, onshowaudit) to set up, administer, and interpret audit trails.

Use the Optical Subsystem interface for an optical storage subsystem to store TEXT and BYTE data (simple large objects) on optical platters (WORM optical media).

Use SQL statements to store and retrieve data to and from the optical storage subsystem.

Use the IBM Informix SNMP subagent to extract information from an Informix database server and pass that information to a network manager. 

Design, define, monitor, and control your Enterprise Replication system.  I

Set up locales for different languages, cultural conventions, and code sets.

yeap.. tu semua memang tugas la.. kalau kor rajin semua task yang kor buat tu kor boleh develop triggers or write some program yourselve utk check semua yang kor check to and triggers somekind of alert.. cam paging/email/ etc etc.. Aku setup SQL aku utk notigy major erro terus SMS kat phone aku.. tak susah pun.. pakai email protocol jer and most SMS service work with phone/Account email..
