Both have a 128 bit GDDR3 memory.A stock 7600GT runs a 560mhz core and memory at 1400mhz.A stock X1600XT runs a 587-590mhz core and memory at 1380mhz.All of Ati's cards have poor open GL support. So if you are really into playing games like Doom for instance, the Nvidia cards will perform better.Most of the reviews I have read put the 7600GT slightly ahead and the reason for that is of, Ati's poor showing in the Doom tests.IMO both cards are very similar.
