shamcs 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2008 (edited) Upon starting your adventures in Magic World Online you’ll immediately be disappointed with the game’s limited selection of playable classes and lack of character customization. You start off the game by selecting one of the four playable classes; Magician, Warrior, Archer and Summoner. Magic World Online’s graphics closely resembles that of an upgraded Diablo 2 and Eudemons online. For a game that was a 2.4 gigabyte download, I was expecting a bit more in terms of graphics.Although Magic World Online has only four playable classes, each class can specialize every 15 or so levels. For example, at level 15 magicians can choose to between advancing to a “fire mage†or “ice mageâ€. Upon reaching level level 30 you can advance your class once again, and again at level 50, and once more at level 65. This sort of class advancement will keep you hooked and playing, as you’ll constantly want to get to your next class advancement to explore your new skills. Unfortunately, each new class advancement only has a handful of new skills [4-6 new skills depending on which advancement].Magic World Online’s most interesting and most controversial feature is definitely the game’s botting system. Most games explicitly claim that they will ban users that use programs to help level up their character, but this game actually includes a fully functional “bot†that will pretty much do all the grinding you’ll ever need to do for you while you’re not even at the computer. Through a simple series on screen configuration options, players can have their entire grinding experience automated. The “bot†can even use potions, loot items, and can even return back to where you set the bot to grind upon death and resume grinding. This system actually creates a level playing field, as it allows everyone to level up quickly, rather than just a small group of people that go out of their way to create their own bot. This is also an incredibly unique approach to the “grinding problem†that plagues a lot of MMORPGs where players get tired of grinding for hours on end to gain a single level, but this system is far from perfect as it takes away a lot of the actual game play. You’ll most likely spend 90% of your time using the game’s built in “bot†rather than actually playing the game. This may seem like an incredible idea, but this system discourages players from actually partying with friends or even questing, as they can gain experience simply by setting up the “bot†and going afk.One incredibly weird thing I noticed while playing Magic World Online was the game’s blatant rip off of music from The Legend of Zelda. Upon entering the game’s auction house, you’ll hear a tune from Zelda. I’m not quite sure what was going on in the mind’s of the developer’s but I’m pretty sure that’s copyright infringement. Aside from the Zelda music, Magic World Online has surprisingly good music. The game’s tracks are quite catchy and change depending on where you are in the game world.Another positive aspect of Magic World Online is the game’s player housing. Players can purchase their own homes in the game’s special housing district and customize them to fit their own interests. The level of house customization is surprising considering that the game is free. Another incredibly useful feature is the game’s built in path finding feature. If you want to go somewhere, simply open up the game’s map and click where you want to go, and your character will find his or her way there without ever bumping into trees or getting stuck, as the game’s path finding is system is well done. The biggest drawback to Magic World Online is definitely the game’s small population. The game claims to have massive faction vs faction battles, but unfortunately the battles aren’t too massive yet, as the game is still relatively new. I do expect this game to grow in popularity, as the game does offer a lot of unique features and the game will surely attract players that are tired of grinding. Magic World Online is definitely worth trying, especially if you want to try out a game that actually lets you play while you’re away from your computer.
