Semuanya bergantung kepada pilihan dan jugak keadaan. Ko kat Orlando? no wonder ko senang sebab keadaan kat sana lain, tak boleh compare dengan Malaysia. Sebab kat Malaysia ni rakyatnya selalu disogokkan dengan barang-barang curi, walaupun diorang sedar tapi saje buat-buat tak tau. Kalau macam aku, aku bekerja sendiri dan aku ada company sendiri. Bukan nak cakap besar sangat tapi memang aku pilih jalan open source utk buat sistem sebab aku tak mampu nak beli. Kalau orang kate, apesal tak beli aje CD cetak rompak? kan belambak? tapi bagi aku, nak taknak utk jangka masa yang panjang aku terpaksa biasakan diri dengan open source. Nasihat aku utk orang malaysia yang nak buat business kat Malaysia, mulakan dulu dengan opensource, esok kalau dah kaya baru boleh beli barang Microsoft. Sebab aku teringat kawan aku kena amaran dengan BSA satu ketika dulu. Sekarang dia terpaksa beli software original. Kesian aku tengok kat dia, nak telan mati mak macam tu la lebih kurang.

Semuanya bergantung. but personally aku sokong open source, sebab aku dapat sokongan dari PUNB (salah satu agensi kerajaan). Diorang banyak membantu, so utk menghargainya jalan ni aku pilih.

frankly speaking... I wonder if any of you would actually ever try to talk to Microsoft.. NOT Microsoft Malaysia.. But directly to Microsoft. Just in case you all need to know, Microsoft ader bagi good package (ACTION PACK Subscription) for RM 1600 jer and korang yang small business dah boleh cover semua license from office 2003, exchange, SQL, and even windows 2003 server for 10 people.

Kenapa aku tak recommend call Microsoft Malaysia? sebab depa suck... go directly contact Microsoft and tell your problem about how their software being too pricey, I am sure they will help you to figure it out.

One bad news to all of you, there are some group of people in Malaysia wish that you do not KNOW this things so they can do expensive craps that will slow your business growth. Aku bukan nak buat issue atau nak salahkan sesiapa, tapi this is from my personal communication with both Microsoft Malaysia and Microsoft US and last time aku balik, aku just tanya same question for me to get some license for my business in Malaysia, but Microsoft malaysia decided to hide this information. (depa tak tahu yang aku dah tahu).

Any big corporation rather to have you to use the software even they did not make profits from you, rather than for you to steal and use piracy software.

Aku nak tinggal satu pesan... "Jangan segan bertanya" and in our case in Malaysia " Jangan segan nak tanya same question to many people"

Because sometime, even they called themselves Microsoft Malaysia, they sometime dont know najis about anything.

Satu lagi assumption pasal aku kat orlando, situation lain ni actually salah. kat sini pun ader gak org pakai [lanun] software.. believe me. Tapi most company kat US beli license sebab sini LAW depa tight. And lagi satu kan, kalau dah barang curi ni, selalu tak berkat and kalau depa ni buat semua ikut rules, insya Allah depa ni berjaya.

sometime kiter kena ingat duit yang kite buat tu nak bagi makan anak bini kiter. so jadi darah daging.

I really want all of you to get in touch with these big corporation like Micosoft, oracle.. not Malaysia punyer branch.. those big. And jangan give up.. get contacts and share the information. Most of the Malsyai SN Bhd are belong to chinese and they dont give a craps about helping you out to figure out any other ways to help you to use Technology to help your business.

In fact.. not just them, our politician and all the dato' also for them, they rather get some big margin to keep for themselves rather than using the "PUBLIC FUND" to buy these licenses.

wow... Itu la, aku pun tak paham keadaan kat mesia ni, salah siapa pun aku tak pasti. Tapi mmg betul apa yg ko cakap tu. Kuasa ekonomi kat mesia ni bukan orang melayu yg pegang, semalam aku baru aje balik dari taklimat keusahawanan, banyak input yg aku dapat, and guess what, 90% ekonomi kat malaysia dipegang oleh bangsa asing. Aku percaya anytime je negara kita ni boleh dijual.

Tadi kat berita (12th June) pihak berkuasa nak offer RM20,000 kepada sesiapa yang memberi maklumat tentang software [lanun] ni. Sejauh mana kesannya , aku tak pasti, memang law kat america very tight, and that is what i am talking about. Its different between America & Malaysia, dan kadang2 aku banyak dengar rungutan dari orang2 malaysia pasal mende ni, and aku bagitau kat diorang gunala alternatif lain (Open Source misalkata), dan aku jugak cuba educate people kat sini supaya mengganggap open source ni sebagai barang alternatif, bukan utk denied maner2 product dari Microsoft. Mungkin ramai yg kurang faham kot.

Tentang Microsoft Malaysia tu, aku baru aje tahu sbb ko dah bagitau, and thanks for that valueable information.

I like discussion where we come out with solutions. I would like one recomendation for everyone, to start writing to these big corporation and ask them questions. In fact kalau depa redirect your email back to Microsft M'sia, you can send another one, and mention about why you dont go through them.

Most sales people will tell your shits load of craps as long as they can screw your cash. So pasal ni kiter kena smart. Before you just simply ask question, you can search from microsoft sites and check for any things realted to your question like in this case Licensing and Software subscription.

Check on MSDN, TechNET, OracleNet, Action Pack, Academic Licensing... research these keyword, and get to know some facts and then ready for questions.

I am sure this will be a smart way for you to discover things and perhaps if you get educated , you might as well press charges to these so called SDN BHD company to go exile.

Company does not give job.. Consumer does. And perhaps it is about time for us to realize we have far greater rights on the product compare to the sales people.

Another story I would like to share with you. Last 4 months i was working on something, so I was looking to buy good servers which I know they exixts and my first impression from those chinese at low Yat was "Hey I know you could not afford that server".. oh well what a craps and later I have to press them so hard and give a glance on the figure of the project, baru la terkapai kapai depa offer itu ini. Double standard?? indeed it was.... in fact I might as well buy cheap parts and built our own and I dont mind, but in business, you need accountability, service reliability and also warranty.

And later because of that incident, I decided just to buy DELL and IBM.. and I dont give a craps to give business to those low yat guys anymore. Even DELL and IBM will cost me twice as much more, but at least they do not question my integrity. And of course, it come with support.

And to those Low Yat guys if you read this I will say STFU.

sori le kalo soklan ni bangang. yg bro step kata RM1600 tu .. dia cover semua product MS mcm Office2003, BackOffice semua tu ke ? kita boleh customize apa yg kita nk ke .. sampai 10 lesen ? wah .. mewah tu. kalao bisnes CC pun boleh buat jugak ke ? 20 PC baru RM3200. murahnya. skang kat mesia ni dh gerak ops tulen. kalo raid .. satu software boleh kena fine dr 2000 sampai 20,000 kalo tak silap la.

actually, bkn xnk hubungi microsoft tu. tp skrg ni saya company pun takde. baru dlm fasa proposal he he ..

p/s: sy tengah praktikal kat satu syarikat swasta kt melaka. byk customer demand product microsoft. kkadang, TCO microsoft lg murah dr opensource. mcm opensource at disadvantages kan ?? cuma bila kita guna opensource..kita ada 'complete control' kat software kita. bg saya, ini je beza antara opensource ngan closesource ..

Apa yang korang mengarut nih setan.... step & puteranetwork.

Anyway .. aku dedulu minat guna oracle and MS SQL.

Tapi sekarang tidak lagi sebab walaupun software tu bule dibeli dgn rege RM5 di Malaysia, tapi problem masa install diclient sbb perlu license. Jadi aku ambil alternatif lain...guna mySQL...perh, kurang function database beb.

Korang pernah dengar firebird or Interbase. Dulu kat forum Putera.com aku dah pernah post benda nih.

Firebird and Interbase asasnya sama. Cuma firebird nih free. Interbase berbayor puluh-puluh juta. Secara interbase dah version 7.1 manakala firebird 1.5.

Aku suggest pada baru yang nak berjinak-jinak ngan database programming bule la try. Korang leh la implemen teknik store procedure, trigger, exception dan sebagainya..

Tepuk dada tanya selera.... mana mana pun database ader kelebihanyer... kalau tak pasal save duit, ader juga yang akan save masa hang nak develop the good solutions in short time rather spend months to spent on things that just later you found out just full of craps.

My choice will be MS SQL, ORACLE , DB2 and Informix.. The rest for me just server the purpose of storing tha data in the table. Database should be able to do more than storing the data.

ok lama tak sambung ni update.. keke aku dok develop oracle punyer solution.. la ni dok main oracle 9i. so far so good.

tapi since aku work with few other companies and people ni feedback yang aku nak share. One thing, oracle guy mostly Unix guys depa ni tak tahu sangat development in software. So that is why Oracle nak beli PeopleSoft.. oracle ni not bad and very sophisticated.. but since lacking of understanding from DBA and Programmer, banyak mende tak dapat selesai.. Compare to Micorsoft, semua easy.. Most Programmer at least expsed to some DB stuff and nak buat solution pun easy on the fly.. With oracle, banyak songeh sikit tapi aku salute jugak oracle ni interms of security.. very nice and high level especially kalau configure nicely with AD and Unix user system.

About MySQL, aku dah hampir 90 % success removing MySQL dependency utk 2 company yang aku support ni. Sebab satu SQL server boleh handle semua dah.. Some company yang aku review ader 5-10 MySQL server install sana sini.. tak fully managed. Ntah la.. salah MySQL ker atau salah DBA depa. Tapi MySQL, kalau buat highly transaction Database System cam stock market, stock trading tend to corrupt easily.

Orait selamat semua. Just want to share with you in case you guys will face with same scenario and you guys should know what to expect and what to check if thisng got screwed.

Pricess normal RM1500 tapi kekadang MSDN Connection subscribber dapat discount so dalam RM1000 la. License for 1 years. next years kau leh renew. aku tak sure license valid or not kalau korang guna kat cc.

susah nak cakap, aku deal ngan microsoft redmond. tapi aku ade tips. cuma tak pasti dari segi law, legal ke tak.

aku kasi kau win2k3 evaluation version (iso). Time bomb 180-Days. kau install ni and pakai wat server and client. WinXP takde eval version. Office ade eval, 60-days tapi standard je la bukannye pro.

so aku rasa option tu leh delayed kan process pembelian software ori kau at least 60-days. Kalau KDN tanye cakap la kau dalap processes evaluating software tu suitable ke tak utk business enviroment kau. once kau puas ATi, baru kau purchare License Version.

memang betul cakap Mus.. pasal action pack ni memang tak boleh guna kalau just nak pakai utk CC... Tetapi,, haaa ader tetapinyer, kalau bace betul betul, kalau kite rajin, business CC tu kena la bukak lagi, buat cam tutorial ker. So kalao kor buat service ajar org pakai Microsoft product, then Action pack is legal. kat US semua org pakai yang original, janganla ngkorang heran....

kat sini licence utk windows RM 380. tapi bagi org yang kat sana diorg cuma terasa macam harga RM 100 je. tukaran asing yg buat harga kat sini mahal, cubala kalau windows kat sana diorg kena beli USD 380. rasanya, semua kat sana pun pakai [lanun] jugak.

harga kaset, cd, vcd dan tengok wayang kat sana USD 10. terasa macam harga sepuluh ringgit je bagi diorg.

cubala kat sini harga tiket wayang RM 38.00

kat US org pakai Ori sebab depa paham lanun ni tak elok. lagi pun support kat sini berbaloi kalau beli ORI. Tak macam mesia aku dah tengok dah support punyer standard kat sana... indah kabar dari rupa kekadang tu.
